Concorso per il “Grand Egyptian Museum – Giza” Egitto - 2002

In Africa, inside Africa, below Africa, in front of pyramids and Sphinx, there’ll be a “place”. This place was just a “site” bordering the desert falling into the city. Now it can become a “place”. And it’ll be simple, linear, complex. It’s a small city, just hanging upon sand. A new skyline, a materic dashing in a flying relationship whit the pyramids over there, so close. Those are earth, planted in earth, the very symbol of earth. The “Grand Egyptian Museum” will be lifted upon sand, it’ll almost never touch sand, brushing her with a caress. There’ll be a respectful relationship and hearth and air, matter and lightness will together embrace tightly. An indivisible “Unicum” with pyramids, till the end of time! Like a city there will be streets, avenues, buildings, flowers, threes.
Like an ancient city there will be underground streets, public and private places, market places, restaurants, knowledge places, resting places, living places. And in the heart of all this raise up the monument that will represent it in the world. Like pyramids, symbolic and mysterious places, they are connected by tunnels sorted as a star geometry, even here the hypogean ducts will drive us in the bowels of hearth toward light and wisdom.
